Imaging Spatial-Helical Mode Interference of Single Photons

چکیده
We present a study of the imaging of the interference of spatial-helical modes of single photons. This work includes a mathematical treatment that accounts for the direction of propagation and spatial mode degrees of freedom in the situation where light travels through an interferometer that prepares the light in distinct spatial modes and makes them interfere. We present results of the interference at the single photon level of the spatialhelical modes with topological charge 1 and 0. The results are consistent with the expectation that each photon carries the entire spatial mode information.

Adapting a compact confocal microscope system to a two-photon excitation fluorescence imaging architecture.
Within the framework of a national National Institute of Physics of Matter (INFM) project, we have realised a two-photon excitation (TPE) fluorescence microscope based on a new generation commercial confocal scanning head. The core of the architecture is a mode-locked Ti:Sapphire laser (Tsunami 3960, Spectra Physics Inc., Mountain View, CA) pumped by a high-power (5 W, 532 nm) laser (Millennia ...
متن کاملEncoding and Decoding Non-separable States of Polarization and Spatial mode of Single Photons
We prepare heralded single photons in a non-separable superposition of polarization and spatial modes using an in-beam polarization interferometer enabled by a spatial light modulator. We diagnose the quantum state using two techniques: quantum state tomography and imaging polarimetry. The results are in very good agreement with the expectations.
متن کاملVideo recording true single-photon double-slit interference
Commercially available cameras do not have a low-enough dark noise to directly capture doubleslit interference at the single photon level. In this work, camera noise levels are significantly reduced by activating the camera only when the presence of a photon has been detected by the independent detection of a time-correlated photon produced via parametric down-conversion. This triggering scheme...
متن کاملImaging Single Photons in Non-Separable States of Polarization and Spatial-Mode
Non-separable superpositions of polarization and spatial mode of a single photon produce a state that has a polarization that depends on the transverse position, and contains all states of polarization represented on the Poincaré sphere. We have done measurements of the space-dependent state of polarization of single photons prepared in distinct 2×2 (qubit-qubit) and 2×3 (qubit-qutrit) non-sepa...
متن کاملThe influence of non-imaging detector design on heralded ghost-imaging and ghost-diffraction examined using a triggered ICCD camera.
Ghost imaging and ghost diffraction can be realized by using the spatial correlations between signal and idler photons produced by spontaneous parametric down-conversion. If an object is placed in the signal (idler) path, the spatial correlations between the transmitted photons as measured by a single, non-imaging, "bucket" detector and a scanning detector placed in the idler (signal) path can ...
